Kate Garraway is stepping into a new challenge beyond her regular duties on Good Morning Britain,

as she prepares to showcase her baking skills in the upcoming season of The Great Celebrity Bake Off: Stand Up To Cancer.
The beloved TV presenter, 57, joined her co-hosts Ed Balls and Susanna Reid on Thursday’s edition of Good Morning Britain, where she revealed the exciting news.
The announcement came during the showbiz segment, where Richard Arnold shared details

about the upcoming celebrity baking competition set to air on Channel 4 from March 16.

Kate will be competing alongside a host of well-known personalities, including Roman Kemp,

Jamali Maddix, and Maxine Peake, as they take on the iconic baking challenges in support of the Stand Up To Cancer campaign.

The light-hearted conversation took a humorous turn when Ed Balls playfully asked Kate about her experience in the competition, jokingly inquiring, “Did you have a soggy bottom?”
Without missing a beat, Kate quipped, “I always have a soggy bottom, Ed, as you well know!”—prompting laughter in the studio. Quickly clarifying his question, Ed responded with a chuckle, “I mean in cookery terms!”
While Kate refrained from giving away any spoilers, she did hint at the messy fun she had during the competition. “A lot of surfaces got covered, but it was brilliant. I can’t give anything away though,” she teased.
A Star-Studded Line-Up and a New Judge
The new season of The Great Celebrity Bake Off promises an impressive roster of stars, all competing across three signature rounds—the Signature Bake, the Technical Challenge, and the Showstopper Round. At the end of each episode, one celebrity will be crowned Star Baker.
Adding to the excitement, the series will introduce a new face on the judging panel. While Paul Hollywood remains a staple of the show, he will be joined by Caroline Waldegrave, the former co-owner and managing director of Leiths School of Food and Wine. Caroline, who has a longstanding friendship with Prue Leith, is stepping in for Prue, who is taking a break from the celebrity edition this year.

Prue Leith Addresses Her Absence from the Show
Speculation about Prue Leith’s possible departure from the show had been circulating since early last year, with some fans fearing she might be stepping away permanently. However, the esteemed judge recently set the record straight during an interview on This Morning.
Speaking to hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, Prue dismissed the rumors, explaining that her absence was simply due to scheduling and personal plans.
“It’s absolutely not true at all!” Prue assured viewers. “What I’m not doing this year is the celebrity one.”
She elaborated, saying that filming for Bake Off runs from April to August, leaving her little time for a break.
“I’m getting quite old and there are places I want to see. So, I’m not doing this year’s [celebrity series],” she added, confirming that she remains part of the main Bake Off lineup.
Kate’s Exciting New Challenge
For Kate Garraway, this latest venture offers a fun departure from her usual work on Good Morning Britain. While she is best known for her news broadcasting and interviews, this will give fans a chance to see a different side of her personality as she takes on the baking tent.

It remains to be seen whether Kate will rise to the occasion or crumble under pressure, but one thing is certain—her quick wit and infectious humor will make for entertaining viewing.
As The Great Celebrity Bake Off: Stand Up To Cancer prepares to return, fans can look forward to a combination of delicious bakes, hilarious mishaps, and heartfelt moments in support of an important cause.
